Hi,
Its not about one local jewellers who says the karatge of Gold is 23 kt or 22kt while selling, but the end consumer is getting less than what has been committed to them. For EG. Consumer gets 20kt Gold against 23 kt Gold, while he is paying for 23kt. & if he wishes to buy Hallmarked Gold Jewellery to get actual purity then the labour charges are Very High, Whereas in normal jewellery we pay INR 60-INR 200/gm & in case of BIS hallmarked Jewellery we pay labor charges INR 250-INR 500/gm, Is it a fair practice?
Please note the actual cost of assaying & getting BIS hallmarked is hardly INR 23-30. Then why they charge so much for BIS hallmarked jewellery when the craftmanship is same as per normal jewellery.
Whom should we complaint? Its the consumer who ended up paying high prices.
What to do to stop such malpractices?
Kindly Advise.
Thank you.
