Kwality Walls Ice Creams
Poor Handling during supply

It is observed that Kwality Walls Ice-creams are delivered by open back trucks (which have some deep fridges loaded) to various retail outlets. The supply stock is taken out in the open (Temp about 35 Deg C), brick by brick, as the freezer opening is small and stacked in the open and about 25-30 (700ml) bricks are taken by hand-carry into the retail outlet like Spencer's or Reliance Fresh and kept inside the store, awaiting supply stock confirmation by the store personnel. During this 20-25 minute exposure to the prevalent temperatures, the Ice-Cream warms to above -18 Deg C, softens inside and becomes pulpy to touch.By about -5 Deg C, the Ice-Cream is spoilt (the froth & syrup separate) and any amount/extent of re-freezing is not going to bring back the quality and texture, it was supposed to be in.

Reliance Fresh outlet at Jodhpur Park, Kolkata, did not allow for the taking of any photographs of their way of their handling of these temperature-sensitive food items.

So, every pack or tub of Ice-cream in the so well designed Super-markets are actually damaged/spoilt products, which the consumer buys, believing to be of good quality.

Walls Ice Cream are well known, all over the world and as a Master Mariner (Ship Captain) I have had the opportunity to try them out in many countries/ports around the world.

Maybe, more awareness and supply chain-arrangements need to be put in place to take care of this un-acceptable standard/situation.

Have a Nice Day!
