I contacted UnicHost for Email Marketing Service. I told them that we need to send 5, 000 emails/day for marketing. We were having trouble with our past provider because we could only send 500/hour and 5, 000 unique email IDs per month.

After paying all necessary fees on June 28, I asked how I could start sending emails. They said that they weren’t set up for that but could set one up. I was invoiced on July 2nd for Bulk mail application Installation and Setup with a one-time payment of Rs.1377.79. Payment was made immediately.

On July 7, our server was finally ready and UnicHost was continuing to set up the mail application. After following up, UnicHost replied on July 9 with instructions to update DNS. Information was sent immediately and did not get a response till July 11. They finally sent information for our application but there were several problems, I sent an email on July 12 for assistance and did not hear back until July 16.

A domain transfer was necessary to complete everything so payment was made on July 17. Domain transfer was not complete until July 25th. We were able to send out emails by the 26th. They had sent an invoice for a 2nd month of service but I hadn't even used their service so I requested for more time to try their service. I found out that I could only send 300 emails/hour which was less than our previous vendor; I was very disappointed and disgusted by that point. When I contacted support, I was told to upgrade to a package of Rs.5700 from Rs.2150. HostGator was only charging us Rs.716.87.

By August 4 our emails were cut off but did not notice until August 6. After contacting them on August 6 they demanded payment of Rs.3, 032.93. I sent an email and no one had responded so I called them 12 hours later and said that I was not satisfied with their service and would like to discontinue due to their poor service and outrageous prices but that we only needed access to our emails.

They said that someone would be assigned to our account for faster responses and that our issue would be resolved within 1 hour. 8 hours later and I still did not get a response so I followed up with and email but no response.

I finally called after 24 hours and they said that payment of Rs.3, 032.93 would be needed. I requested for 2 weeks of service and a downgrade so I would be able to transfer our emails to another host and the rep said that a new invoice would be made to accommodate that. An invoice of Rs.2, 260.91 was sent for 12 days of service.

All in all, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have past and I am not able to retrieve any emails from clients. I have a new host and am working to move all DNS but I truly regret ever using UnicHost. They lie to get your business and once you have paid, you never hear from them. Save your money and go with any other company. Once I have used the new service provider for a few weeks, I will leave a review here.
