Fraud agents collecting money for new broadband connection

Hi,

Couple of days back I sent an email to Airtel customer service requesting a new broadband connection. I gave my cell number for contact.

The next day i received a call from a customet service executive asking for my address. They also informed me the tech department will be in touch with me within 48 hours. But i received a call from an agent within 2 hrs. They asked me to make a payment of one month charges and modem cost. They even came to my office to collect the money. They said they will provide the connection that evening itself.

But no on turned up and their contact numbers are switched from next day on.

It looks like either the airtel customer care mail box is either hacked or someone internal is part of this fraud.

Its greatly appreciated if Airtel would look into this and stop such frauds in future
