The auto fares in Tamilnadu is going high and high. Normally it is three times higher than the declared fare by Government. In night times, it is about 6 times than the prescribed fare. It's true. I have recently paid Rs. 50/- for 2 kms in Kumbakonam and paid Rs. 30/- for just 1 km in Pudukkottai. It seems nobody is here to control them. All audo drivers are forming a group at every street and form a "auto stand". One has to give whatever amount they demand. We have no other options as they are in group. We cannot board any other empty auto passing the street, as it will not be allowed by this stand auto fellows. I have a doubt whether we are in republic country.
