Maha Electronics
Unnecessary replacement of parts

Last week I gave my laptop for service at a HP service centre on St Peters Road in Chennai. The hinge of the lid had broken for some reason and the usual CMOS error which occurs almost every six months were the complaints. It is common practice to replace the mother board in that case. In this situation since the laptop was out of the warranty period the company Maha Electronics which is the service centre told me it was going to be a paid service and the mother board will have to be paid for by me. Now they send me a quotation saying that the motherboard will cost me Rs.14, 655.90 and they want to replace the display for another Rs.21, 306.29 where as the display was working just fine and it was only the hinge that was broken. This is not the first time they have offered to such a solution. Instead of servicing the products the look for a replacement solution with hiked prices, like this one that sets me back by an over all amount of Rs.35, 962.19 including a service cost of Rs1, 250.00 and the best part of this scam is that if I choose not to go through with this I will have to pay the service charge of Rs 1, 250.00 to claim my laptop back. What a monopoly.
