Corrpution practice in vehicle parking fee

The parking charges at the parking lot opp. Novelty Cinema, Delhi approved by the Northern Railway are as under:

Duration Charges

a) Upto 6 hrs. : Rs. 15/-

b) Upto 12 hrs: Rs. 40/-

c) Upto 24 hrs. : Rs. 100/-

The above charges are totally illogical and in fact amount to corrupt practice. Logically, the charges for the subsequent block period should be lesser than the initial block period (of 6 hours) and in no case, charges for subsequent block (s) should exceed the charges for the preceding block period.

The above rates need to be re-fixed rationally and logically, taking into consideration the following:

Firstly, the block period for charges should be on basis of block periods of 6 hours each. Secondly, the charges for all subsequent block periods should be lesser than the preceding block period and in reducing order also. In no case, the charges for any subsequent block periods should be more than the charge for the preceding block period. In actual practice, the following charges could be prescribed:

Duration Charges

a) Upto 6 hrs. : Rs. 15/-

b) Upto 12 hrs: Rs. 25/-

c) Upto 18 hrs. : Rs. 33/-

d) Upto 24 hrs: Rs. 40/-

e) Above 24 hrs .: Rs. 40/- Rs. 5/- for every 6 hours.

The above measure, if adopted, would be in the interest of equity, fair play and the general public.
