I was a customer of Airtel for almost last 3 years. recently I moved out of India and requested customer care to keep my number in safe custody and got a Service Request (19470930) saying it is registered and you have to pay 99 Rs every month towards that. Later I got bill for a month for about 15Rs towards January and again 399 Rs as rent for February.
I sent 2 e-mails to customer care asking for why 15Rs is charged but they did not respond at all.
Later when I called customer care they told that your number is still active and you have to pay the outstanding amount. I was really frustrated on hearing this and asked them to cancel my number and informed them that I will not pay any amount as i have all the necessary proof saying that my request for keeping my number in custody was registered.
