We stay in a rented apartment in AECS Layout. We had given 72000 as deposit. Our owners asked us to vacate flat in Dec when we got another flat and also gave token amount to the new flat, this owner told he never asked us to leave and we can stay if we increase the rent from Rs.16, 800 to Rs. 25, 000 else we should serve a notice period of one month and then leave. We could not do much then as we did not have any written notice. So we sent him a mail saying we will vacate by february end and he should give us our deposit back before that. Now he is returning just 26000 out of 72000 that too he says he will return only after we vacate. We have a written mail when he told he will send us the money. Is there any ways out if he does not agree to give money until we vacate because we know once we vacate he won't give anything back and he might deduct rent for match as well from the deposit amount.
