I am a TATA DOCOMO pre-paid customer for more than 6 months (Mob Number : 7795068245) I had applied for mobile number portability on 6th Dec 2012 and the Unique Porting code is TX973771 with validity upto 21-12-2012. I wanted to shift to AIRTEL postpaid corporate connection which had a CUG option for my official contacts. I have submitted all the necessary documents (Passport copy, PAN copy, BSNL Land line bill) along with the application form and Porting code to Airtel representative (Vinay - 9611895550) on 6th Dec 2012.
I have been following up with the Airtel representative and TATA Docomo customer care since the application has been submitted and I have not recieved any information till today (20-12-2012).
Today I called up TATA DOCOMO customer care number at 121 to enquire about the delay and that the validity of my Porting code was going to expire. I was shocked to know that my porting request has been cancelled and I have been "retained" as TATA DOCOMO customer. Though I have not recieved a single call or SMS to inform me about this "retention" by TATA DOCOMO, even after repeated enquiry to the customer care representative, there was only one line reply that "Sir, according to the information I see, you have been "retained" and your porting request is cancelled, you have to apply for prting again". I requested to get connected to a higher authority to enquire why and how TATA DOCOMO can decide without my consent to cancel my request or even have the basic courtesy to inform that my request is cancelled. I was put on-hold for more than 30 mins but without any response. I disconnected and tried to call back 121 again, but this time Automated voice response "All our executives are busy, please email us at .... and disconnected.
This is totally un-ethical and rude on TATA Docomo's part and I strongly recommend to avoid this network in future.
