Regarding the Airtel Broadband Disconnection

Need your advice,

I was using Airtel Broadband Connection while my stay in Pune during June to September. I have paid all my bills on time and with no penalty on my account. Since I was asked to move to Bangalore for work reasons, I asked Airtel Customer Care to disconnect my broadband connection. I have a mail to this effect which clearly states the disconnection of the line, for which Airtel did accept my mail correspondence. Now Airtel says that i have outstanding amount of Rs 4049 on this account. I told them i have informed them in my email that the line needs to be disconnected and at the same time provided my alternative contact nos, but they contacted me. Now Airtel threatens me with with a legal action.

Please suggest?
