Airtel
Deducting (robbing) prepaid mobile balance

Hi,

I am a customer of Airtel prepaid mobile for a long time. For 1 year, airtel has been forcing unwanted services on my mobile and deducting my balance. I have complained to their customer care several times, but this practice is repeated even nowadays. I am visiting foreign countries for the time being with international roaming activated and with enough balance to account for any emergency calls. But due to their mischievous activity I lost a huge balance. This is day robbing. I had posted about this incident in the same forum and got reply from somebody claiming as AIRTEL customer executive. But no action taken so far. This is fooling the customers.

Some timeline of AIRTEL's planned robbery on me

1) Previously, AIRTEL customer care/automated number used to call to my number and ask me to press xxx number for their yyy service. Then I had the option to not to opt for the service.

2) Later, they used to call to my mobile from some random number and if I accidentally pick the call, they used to activate some service. When I talked to their customer care executive, she was telling me that I had opted for the service. Poor me, what to do? I didn't have any idea.

3) Again later, when I went abroad, they used to call me. Even if I didn't attend the call, they used to activate some service. I came to know that by dialling *121# I will be able to see and cancel the service. I cancelled many such services which they had activated in my mobile to loot me.

4) They began activating unwanted serviced very frequently in my mobile in a competitive spirit. Don't know their customer executive gets some award for this. I used to view and cancel it whenever I notice it.

5) Again they changed the strategy. They activated some services. When I tried to view the service using *121#, they will show a status as something like "Kindly note that there are no services active on your mobile". But there will be some messages coming to my mobile in the name of some particular service and my money would have gone. I would be able to cancel this service only after quite a long time only, if I tried continuously.

At this point I sent an SMS to their customer care number 121, which is believed to be a toll free number. I did it from UK. I lost Rs.50 for the sms, which I sent to complain about their looting.

I would like to ask just one question. Do AIRTEL see me as an enemy instead of a customer? Is it a war between team AIRTEL v/s people of the nation?

Best Regards
