My long hair cutted short instead of just shaping it up

I went to this saloon shop to give my hair a little shape. I told the person to reduce my thickness but not to alter my length at all. He has chopped my hair and brought it down to less than even 1/3rd of what i was having. Please help me. I was increasing my hair from past 8 months. I am not even getting sleeps at night due to this.
