LATE PAYMENT INTEREST

Dear Sir,

As per statement dated 6 Nov 09 for Rs. 5315, the payment due date was 26 Nov 09. I drop cheque for same amount in the specify drop box near to my house on dtd. 23rd Nov. 2009. After that that cheque is clear on 3rd Dec from my bank account & they charged me for late payment charges. It is not my mistake then why should I pay him extra. Please help me on this matter.
