Non clearance of cheque_Service inefficiency

We have a CC account at UBI- Digboi Branch. Limit of the A/c is Rs. 7, 00, 000.00 only. While getting the A/c we have put a security amount (FD) of Rs. 6, 50, 000.00 in the bank from our side.

Recently, we submitted an at-par cheque for an amount of Rs. 32, 500.00 (approx.) of Axis Bank issued by one of our clients. As we do not have an Axis Bank branch in Digboi, we had deposited the said cheque at Tinsukia Highway Br. of UBI, so that the cheque gets cleared by the Axis Bank Br. at Tinsukia.

Unfortunately, the cheque was not cleared even after 10 days. After enquiry at the Tinsukia Highway Branch of UBI, we got the very strange reply that as the said branch would not get any commission for clearing the said cheque, they are least interested to clear the same and we were even advised by the bank staff to get the cheque deposited at the Tinsukia main branch of UBI, and the cheque was returned to us.

In this age of competition and better service providing by the various other Banks, if this is what we get by opening an account at UBI, it really makes us thinking about our options about continuing with this Bank. We solicit a response in this regard by the competent authority. Interestingly, this is not the first time we have faced problems with our Banking with UBI. This time though, it was extraordinary to get such a response from the bank staff.
