Account wrongly debited

I am an ICICI bank customer for past 8 years. During this period of more than 8 years my account has always been regular.

On 27th April I got an SMS message from ICICI bank that my account has been debited by an amount of Rs.1, 22, 646.00. I was surprised to receive this message as I did not initiate or authorize any such transaction. I fail to understand that how a bank can debit my account without my approval or without even informing me.

On calling the customer care (Service Request No. 139793224), they told that bank has debited this amount to get their payment of outstanding amount of credit card number 4477477030485003

I do not hold any Credit Card issued by ICICI bank.

I applied for a ICICI credit card in December. In January I went out of the country for almost the whole year. So I never received the credit card.

I informed the customer care about the same after which they told me that credit card was issued and was delivered in Chennai. I never lived in Chennai. I do not have any address in Chennai.

I never received any statement or any other intimation about the outstanding payment against this card. I never knew that any such card has been issued to me. As I never received this card so there is no question of my using it.

I fail to understand how the bank has handed over credit card issued in my name to some one else at a different address which was never given by me. It clearly shows mistake of bank and bank is fully responsible for it.
