Myself, Manoj Kumar Rout, holding an ICICI Credit card had given a standing instruction in December to my ICICI Credit card no.# 4477 XXXX XXXX 7004 for the bill pay (utility bill payment service) towards payment of my airtel Mobile (Mobile No.9949057715 and Airtel account Number-104-100750878).
On May my airtel Connection converted to a corporate connection with the same mobile number but different Airtel account number (Mobile Number: 9949057715 and Airtel Account Number: 104-100926225), So I called ICICI customer care to cancel the standing instruction and that is the only way we can do it. From May onwards my company started paying the bill till date. After that no payment made through the utility bill payment (From ICICI credit card) till February.
Though the bill amount for my connection was Rs 1316 for the month of February however, on 18th March a amount of Rs 21551.76 has been debited from my account and credited to Airtel Hyderabad on 28th may. I raised so many requests towards the refund of the amount debited wrongly from my account (Request no # SR100613895, SR104833762 etc.), but all in vain. In fact for all my email communications with the bank I got number of contradictory replies. At the end I got to know that, AIRTEL can’t refund that amount to me as my connection is a corporate connection. With the help of my company representative Airtel refunded that amount on 8th sept. 2009 to my company and I got a cheque of amount Rs 21552.00, in favor of ICICI credit card# 4477 XXXX XXXX 7004 on 25th Sept. 2009 from my company.
Though this is the fault of ICICI credit card, they are denying it and charging late payment fees and interest and forcing me to pay another Rs. 10, 500.00 for the same.
For your kind information -
1. If ICICI is correct saying, I did not cancel the standing instruction then why any payment hasn’t been made from my card for a period of 10 months (between May to Feb) and suddenly on the month of march Rs 21551.76 debited from my account against my real bill amount for the concerned month was 1316.00
2. And the other thing is, while giving standing instruction I had mentioned the Airtel mobile number as well as the Airtel account number which was assigned to me with a copy of the bill at time of submission of application, but while the connection converted to a corporate connection the Airtel account number has been changed. So how the amount has been debited to a different account.
They are disturbing my peace of mind by harassing in different ways and imposing late payment fees and interest charges for the transaction that hasn’t been made on my part.
Please guide me to file any legal action against the bank or the issue could be resolved in any other way. Any help would be highly appreciated.
