Invalid intimation sent under section 143 (1)

Me and my mom pay taxes via our employers, but still we have been sent an intimation from the Income Tax Department under Section 143 (1), asking for an amount which has to be paid in 30 days!

I understand the fact that there may have been some mistake, but then what's my fault? If the employers are responsible for payment of taxes, why fine me, and not the employer? I dont think I have an option to remove my employer out of this and opt to pay my taxes on my own.
