Item removed from checked in luggage

Hi,

This is in reference to loss/theft of my luggage while travelling by Indigo.

While I was travelling from Kolkata to Hyderabad on the 24th of Septembet '11 (Flight 6E348, seat no. 12A) my portable hard disk containing valuable information from my checked in laptop bag was lost. The luggage was lost in between the span i handed it over to an Indigo staff (luggage handler to the conveyor belt) in Kolkata and arrival in Hyderabad. I find it highly inapt, inconvenient and disappointing that a twice decorated airline would be so callous with a passenger's luggage.

I request and hope to be returned my luggage asap to avoid any further drastic measures but in the event that they deny any responsibility and lack any action what are the options that i can explore?

Please suggest.
