Cancellation of flight at peak Diwali

I was booked on IT3433 for BLR-CCU on 04-Nov (PNR: SPHJHU). At around 7pm on 2nd NovI recieved SMS informing me about cancellation!! They are trying to reroute with either full day haltovers ON 5th or at extra cost.
I feel, this is a technique being used by Kingfisher revenue managers for optimizing revenue - read "Making Quick Bucks". This practice is highly unfair and should be legally stopped. I would like to know if there really is some legal ways to teach them a lesson?
