Goods stolen and broken

We had contracted with Chandresh Bhanushali at Alliance International Packers & Movers - 9323132005 - to pack and move our household items from Mumbai to USA. They had promised us our stuff would reach us in a month. There was a slight delay on our part in giving them the address but even after giving them the address or stuff reached us after 3 months. They kept giving us excuses saying because of the rains there was a lot of backlog and hence the delay etc.

They had partnered with Troy Lines Shipping here in the US who charged us extra for 5 pallets stating Alliance hadn't paid for it - even though we had paid them the entire amount - we had to pay the money for them to release our stuff from their godown.

They had charged us for door to door delivery. When the goods finally reached us it was delivered to our building not our door. We had to haul it up to the 2nd floor on our own.

When it was unloaded from the truck we saw at least 3 boxes of crockery which were supposed to be cling wrapped but were not, had been torn open and most of the crockery was either stolen or broken. The mattresses and most of the other boxes had damage due to water seepage. We had a marble mandir for which I had asked them to be extra careful since breaking of a mandir is considered inauspicious but that was broken too.

In all, anything worth the cost and effort to be shipped was either stolen or broken.

We had insurance to the tune of 1 lakh Rs, again an extra charge was applied for it, and asked them to at least file a claim and try to reimburse us as far as possible for the cost. It has been more than 3 months but neither have they filed a claim nor given us anything back. They don't even pick up our phone calls.

Anyone looking to deal with them please be very wary. We had very bad experience and don't want anyone else to go through the same.
