Big Cinema (Eternity Mall, Thane)
Charging for 3D glasses

Cinemas & Theaters

Hi

I have gone to watch Tangled in 3D in Eternity Mall, Thane. Ticket cost was normal but i was surprised when they asked me to pay 30 Rs for 3D glasses which are must when watching 3D movie.

Day before i watched Santcum in 3D in PVR mulund and they didnt charge me anything for re-usable 3D glasses. In this case they could have taken deposit from me for glasses but they didnt.

When i put same argument with Big Cinema staff they said they have mentioned in their advertisement that they charge for 3D glasses. I asked them to give me recipet for purchase for which i have to wait for nearly 30 mins. When i asked them why it is taking so much time they said their reciept book is over and they are getting new book. At last when receipt came in my hand i was surprised to see it was in plain paper with their stamp on it.

I have read somewhere that Cinema can ask consumers to pay for 3D classes. I failed to understand below:

1. When movie is suppose to be watched in 3D and if consumer have to buy glasses then why Cinema owners dont include cost of glasses in ticket itself and distribute glasses along with ticket at ticket counter?

2. If this is acceptable then why PVR dont charge me anything extra for 3D glasses. I beleive both cinemas have gone through same process to get rights to show movie in 3D

I strongly feel that rules will be same for all Cinema owners
