Efund of money

Dear Sir

In winter I purchased a blanket from central market which is returned on the next day when it is found that it is not a good quality as i demanded specially. The shopkeeper did not return money back but took the blanket and he said that there is no provision of returning money. He gave me a receipt of Rs.2400/ and asked to come any day and purchased anything available in my shop in exchange of this money. He further told that he can not give money in cash however the situation.

Is this is Law to kept his blanket but not to give money back. Please help me.
