Adding VAT on discounted price given on MRP

I have purchased A sweater from Brand Factory, Hyderabad.

The MRP of the Sweater was Rs.1699 and the Discounted Price was Rs.999 .

Rightly, I have to give Rs 999 to them, instead they Have Charged me VAT on the Discounted Price (5.5%) so my total bill

became Rs.1045 . How can Anybody charge VAT on Discounted price. This is pure Cheating and fraud.

Action must be taken against these big stores so that a good examples must be set for others.
