Dell provided a BIOS update on their support site for the Studio 1450. On running this update, the BIOS got wiped out and the system stopped working. On taking it to the Service Center I was told that the mother-board had to be replaced.
Unfortunately, my system was out of warranty (by six months. It is 1.5 yrs old), so I was told that nothing could be done unless I forked up Rs 16K for a one-year warranty. On calling customer support, I was told that I could NOT order the motherboard, as it was not in stock, had to be ordered from Malayasia, etc. etc. However, if I extended my warranty at Rs. 15K, they would have it fixed within 2 weeks.
Thieves! Not to mention the 2 hours wasted with deviously lying Customer Support.
NO MORE DELL!!!
