Installation of servixce pack 1 for window vista

Day before yesterday I got an upgradation message (Service Pack 1) from microsoft for better functioning of window vista on my laptop. After I installed the service pack it asked me to restart my laptop. I gave command for it to restart but it never did! Now, even in safe mode my laptop is not able to wake up! When I ask for window to start normally it ask for some repair when you click OK it scan lots of files and in between get struck.

When I checked on google I found that lot many people are suffering from same problem. please look into the matter and do not send upgradation messages to customers unless they are user friendly and does not affect proper working of your computer.

I really don't know what to do! There are some very important documents related to my work which I can not afford to loose at any cost.. Do let me know what to do?
