BEWARE OF THE COACHING CENTRES:

Beware: M/s. Aspire learning centre (T.nagar) displayed in their web site that their foundation programme is so great in motivating students in concept based systematic learning. I looked for the review and unfortunately there was none. When I called their office, the counselor, Mrs. Stella motivated me praising so much about the programme. Believing her words, with hopes, I admitted my child in “FOUNDATION PROGRAMME’ who entered class IX in June. The counselor at the centre informed that that programme would be initiated from 03/07 and talked in such a tone, (of course smoothly like piercing a banana with a pin) that we were likely to miss a good oppertunity. I travelled a distance and I paid the part fees of Rs 6000/ (Rupees six thousands only) for the above said programme vide cheque no 165127 and their receipt no 049 dated 30/06. However, a day earlier (on 02/07) when I called them up they said that the programme is delayed for a week and they would start the programme in second week of July. The next week they called themselves and informed that as some of the faculties were not available they could not start the programme. Third week the lame excuse was ‘the school function in Anna Nagar centre’ (If I remember correct it was C S I Ewart Matric Higher Secondary School). My sixth sense gave an alarm. On the said day, I personally went to the school to verify their statement. For my shock, there was no such school function and several students were in the campus for other coaching institutes. I realized my mistake, got out of the shock and made up my mind to proceed in right direction. I sent a registered letter dated 29/07 asking for the refund in total. After making repeated phone calls, the company refunded the fees in total. When I was waiting to collect my refund cheque, there was another phone call and from the conversation, I could guess that it was a similar case for refund. I doubt there were a handful of people who got disappointed. What do you call it: White collar cheating? Or public funding / rotation of finance with out interest? Or Exploitation of the sensitive parents?

BEWARE: Most of the coaching centres exploit sensitive parents. Look for the details when your child is in class VII or VIII, thoroughly enquire about the coaching centre that you are aiming at, personally visit multiple study centres of the coaching institute and enquire with GOOD students. Some students join the study centres to get out of homes on holidays, cut the coaching classes and roam around. Watch your child, know his/ her friends and visit the study centre very often. If holidays for you, drop and pick up the child by yourself. Give the parental comfort rather than expecting high scores in the examination.
