Blackberry phone from Vodafone
Efusal of unlocking of my set for using in other SIM

I have purchased a blackberyy phone set from Vodafone and using blackberry connection. I am not satisfied with the service. I want to use the same set for other SIM card but I could not as vodafone has locked the set to use in other servce provider. I visited vodafone store to unlock the same but they refused. I could not understand. the has been purchased and it is not provided free by vodafone company. How they can lock this to use in other sevice provider. It is indirectly blackmailing the customer to use the same service provider even they are not satisfied. As a customer is it not right to claim my hand set to be free to use for any of my choise of service provider. Kindly help me to resolve the issue.
