Non registration of phone imei nos

My hand set mc160 was purchased from delhi CP BEECHAMS on 11-jan 10. as on date this set is not working. error shown is invalid sim. on checking from the local authorised service centre of fly mobile company at pathankot (punjab) i was told that the imei number is the issue and the company itself will have to resolve the matter with TRAI and the other service provider. Only a month into buying a mobile worth 6000 Rs if this has to happen then who is at fault.

Is it the Beechams who is selling

neverthe less who ever is at fault what is the way out. kindly advice

further action to be taken on this issue to get my mobile working
