Defective Piece and Poor Service from the Team

Hello Team,

I am very dissatisfied customer of Godrej. I purchased a Godrej Refrigerator on 16/02, and it started having problems within one year of the purchase. I had spent Rs.14, 000 for the Refrigerator and spent 50% of the total value, towards repairs and servicing from Godrej within a span of 4 years. The first service problem, a technician had come and diffused all the electronic parts and made the refrigerator a mechanical one. This happened in the year 2006. I had to spend Rs.1, 500 for the service. The then Service Manager, Mr. Debasis was informed about this as I had a telecon with him and told him that perhaps a defective piece was delivered to me and he should look into the problem immediately. But he quietly sent a techincian and got that job done. The next problem arised in 2007 for which I had to again spend 1, 600 rupees. This came as another hole in my pocket. The third problem arised in 2008 for which I paid another 1, 935 rupees. I am not totally upset as the refrigerator again has a problem and this time, the technician confirmed that the timer is burnt out and I had to pay Rs.1, 150 on 25th December. I had a talk with the current Service Manager at Hyderabad Branch, Mr. Santosh, but a very poor response I had. The refrigerator is under observance, and I am stilll having to wait. Its a pity that Godrej has a poor service team which lacks Relationship Management and an outlook towards the importance of a Service Feedback from its consumers.

I now decided to go to the company and also to the consumer forum to see what can be done. But I sincerly advice anyone buying a Godrej, to please re think twice. Get the Refrigerator checked before it is delivered, make sure its not a defective piece or something that was put up on the display for months and then delivered to you. Once purchased, you will surely have problems like what I am facing.
