LG/s failure to provide AMC services

I am the unfortunate owner of a 1.5T Window A/C besides other LG Products. I guess I should blame myself for trusting LG and getting mis-lead with their false and mischievous advertisements. Although I have been renewing my AMC for the A/C year after year I have not been getting the contractual dry and wet services. Complaints to their Customer Care on 1800-180-9999 has not helped. LG just does not care. All they are interested in is selling their products and minting money from the AMC’s

In 2008 the REMOTE of my A/C started mal-functioning. Initially for the first few months their Technicians attending my repeated complaints refused to admit that the Remote was faulty. Ultimately after I personally met and complained to their Area Service Manager in Kolkata, they agreed that the remote was faulty. They gave me a used / second-hand remote which was actually of a Split S/C, promising to provide me a brand-new compatible remote within days. Weeks and months passed but there was no sign of the promised replacement. All this while I repeatedly complained to their Customer care and even write to their Kolkata office but nothing happened. In June when it was time to renew the A/C (by this time almost 10-11 months had passé since my original defective remote was taken away by LG), I refused to renew the AMC. I was hurriedly connected to their Area Service Manager who wasted no time and words promising me that such things would NEVER happen again. He also promised a replacement with 2-3 days.

I was ultimately supplied a new REMOTE (after almost 1 year of my original complaint) but I soon realized that this Remote too was not functioning normally. Once again I started complaining. The technicians who attended to these complaints failed to identify the defect and left promising to keep the case / complaint OPEN since the problem had not even been identified. However, every time I later realized that the case / complaint had been CLOSED saying that the complaint had been attended and the defect rectified.

Totally frustrated and dejected I ultimately stopped complaining. On 06-06 I once again logged a complaint for the remote as well as a request that my AMC should be renewed (it was expiring on 07-06). The technician visited me and shocked me by informing me that this Remote was also NOT compatible to my type of Window A/C. NOTE that by now 2 years had passed since I had first complained about my remote. Once again I was PROMISED an early and proper replacement and also assured that the case / complaint would NOT be closed until and i=unless the remote had been properly replaced. In fact, in order to gain my confidence, even my signature was not obtained on the Call Sheet.

Failing to hear anything further and also since there was NO response from LG regarding renewal of my AMC, I called Customer Care but was shocked when even after verifying my identity, the person at the other end (Mr. Pankaj) flatly refused to inform me the status of the two complaints whose Docket No. I provided him. I called again and this time I was informed that, as usual, the complaint regarding the remote had been closed while the other (regarding renewal of AMC was still open). I was promised a call on 12-06 and my AMC would be renewed. However, there is only SILENCE from LG.

It is also interesting to note that inspite of my repeated complaints by E-Mail as well as by letter (all of which are well documented), and although I have been religiously renewing my AMC year-after-year, LG has failed and neglected to provide me the assured (as per the contractual AMC agreement) the 2 FREE Dry and 1 Wet Service even for 1 year.

It is obvious that

1. LG products are sub-standard.

2. LG is in no mood to provide AMC services

3. LG blatantly ignores customer’s complaints

4. LG is a CUSTOMER UN-FRIENDLY company

5. LG deliberately misleads the Indian public with ulterior motives and mischievous intentions by releasing false advertisements

I have suffered immensely and continue to suffer and my hard-earned money has literally gone down the train but I APPEAL to my FELLOW COUNTRYMEN to BOYCOTT LG products and save themselves the agony, pain and financial losses that I have suffered.
