PAYMENT OF SERVICE CHARGES EVEN WITHHIN WARRANTY PERIOD

Under Bill No.546.26.9.10, of Saravana Stores, T. Nagar, I purchased a Micromax Mobile for Rs.4750/- which carried a warranty for one year. I protect it with a pouch and use it only when necessary. On 27.05.2010 the system developed charging problems. I took it to the Service Centre at Mahalingapuram, where I was informed that the cnnector got damaged, it is not covered under Warranty and I have to pay Rs.650/- for setting it right. Almost all the customers waiting there, were experiencing the same problem. The meagre service personnel, informed that Micromax is being closed and they are presently attending to issues within Warranty Period and it takes upto three to four months for replacement of spares in case of out of warranty sets. It is a pity that media boasts these substandard products.. I am a retired Government servant and it pinched my pocket heavily. Adding to my woe, from 28-05, I am not able to receive and make calls from the set. I request the concerned authorities to reimburse me the service charges.

I also request the television media not to advertise these substandard products, which, when serviced would cost over and above the handset cost.
