BLOCK MY NUMBER BY THE AIRTEL AUTORITY

I have bought a sim from airtel company (my number was 9635021180 on my name Palash Mukherjee with proper address proof of PAN card and DRIVING LICENCE to the shop from where I bought the sim. I have already used that phone number for more than six months and the sim was for life time. After a long day when I went to call at that number I have found that it was not my number and it became a number of a person belong to KOLAGHAT OF Midnapore. My question is how is it possible to block my number and how airtel can issue the same number to other without prior notice. My name is Palash Mukherjee and I belong to Burdwan working as employee of Bengal College of Engineering and Technology, Durgapur. My own phone number is 9434831626.The mentioned phone number (9635021180) is staying with my mother at Burdwan. But today (4th August) I have seen this problem. Please help me get rid of this problem.
