Electronics and household app.
I am Vinod Kumar from Salem district. I bought two units of Xenon ACE 1400VA UPS from M/s Srivari Generator & Agency, one on 30/9 and the other on 22/10. Two 160AH battery for each unit was bought along with the inverter. The warranty period informed to me was 2 years for inverter and 18months for battery. I was also orally promised that for normal usage the battery would last from 4 to 5 years. Each unit cost me around Rs.30000 and it makes no purpose if the battery doesnt last even for 4 years.
The first unit which was bought on 30/9 developed problems within 1 year of purchase, the back up time was just 1 hour for just 7 CFL bulbs 18W and two fans. They initially tried with topping the water level and took the batteries for charging but it didnt work. So they replaced both the batteries. The second one which was bought on 22/10 developed problems on 29/5. Back up time was just 30 mins. This unit though is used at residence. Today, 3/6 authorised service persons who inspected the unit upon my complaint has declared that battery overheating as problem and since its 30 days beyond the warranty and nothing could be done now. I asked whether if it could be rectified upon payment of service charges, but the answer was opposite. We invested two units costing Rs.30000 each upon belief that since its from a reputed branded company, it would have a decent life of operation. Amara Raja is not a normal local brand. Its known all over India. If the problem occured only in one unit, I would not have any doubts, but since both the units lasted only for limited period, I doubt this company is providing sub standard quality products. People investing in UPS beware, please do not buy Xenon UPS system.
