Modern bread
Manufacturing defect?

I purchased "Modern bread (Chota 7 Must) from my regular stores i.e. Asha Gen. Stores, Panchpakhadi, Thane (W), on 1st Sept.'11. On pack it was indicated as "Use By 4th Sept.'11" On 4th Morning I found "Fungus" on the bread slices left over. I have returned the bead to the store keeper asking him to deal with.

What is the Rule, i.e. Use by 4th Sept. means including 4th Sept. OR excluding 4th Sept. Please let me know and if required how to take up the matter with "Modern"
