Defective Chest of Drawers Delivered

I had bought a chest of drawers from GIP Noida. The piece in question was on display and had 5 handles missing, so I asked the sales person to check, whether the piece had handles in the first place. After repeatedly enquiring at the store I was told that it did have handles and would be sent at the time of delivery. When I asked for a new piece to be delivered from the warehouse, I was told it was the last one available and no new pieces are available in the warehouse (it seems it is Kishore Biyani's driven company policy to push old pieces on display).

Reluctantly, I agreed for the piece on display to be delivered on the condition that I get the completed piece with handles (it was even written on my bill and approved by one Avishek Pandey, the staff who sold it to me was D Sanuh).

Guess what, after waiting for a week for the delivery, I have been delivered an incomplete piece and on enquiring with the store, they told me the piece was complete when it was sent (implying i was the one who made the handles disappear). Despite repeated attempts I have not been able to get the store to address the issue. Now I am stuck with a piece of furniture which is impossible to use and display.

The adage " the bigger they are the harder they fall" should in the Indian retail context be changed to "the bigger they are the worse are the service levels". Great Job Mr. Biyani
