Partial Settlement of Claims

Dear Sir/Madam,

Gretings! My name is Sanjay Kumar K (CHE-NI-GH06-11-04004-A) and I have taken New India Assurance's Citibank credit card Good Health Policy for the last 5 years. My Mother, S Vimala (CHE-NI-GH06-11-04004-B) was operated for Umblical Hernia on 14/12 and discharged on 18/12 at MIOT Hospitals, Chennai. The total cost of operation came to Rs 54, 000/-(Rupees Fifty Four Thousand Only approximately). At the time of admission i was assured that a payment of Rs 44, 000 has been sanctioned. However at the time of discharge a sum of Rs 23, 000/- (Rupees Twenty Three Thousand Only) was sanctioned. In the meanwhile i was contacting the insurance company who are saying that as per policy document only 20% of sum assured ie., Rs.2, 15, 000/-(Rupees Two Lakh fifteen thousand only) will only be sanctioned. I was never explained satisfactorily that why an initial amount of Rs 44, 000/-(Rupees Forty Four Thousand Only) was sanctioned.

Please clarify me on this.
