I hired this person to do a website customization.

I was a little iffy about doing business overseas because I feared that the person could disappear easily without being held accountable... well, I was right.

I paid an initial deposit to Ramanjeet Kaur Kaur aka Raman Sharma and this person was very pleasant until the work was required. Raman claimed before receiving the deposit that he could do the assignment without any problem and to not worry about anything. Well, when Raman got the deposit, he worked on it a little and then claimed that he could not meet the requirements...

So, I advised him that it was ok and that he should return the deposit and that I would hire someone else... Raman claimed that he would not return the deposit... So I told him very well, then finish what you can to the best of your abilities... Raman agreed to finish the assignment... and never did. I send Raman numerous amount of emails, never to hear a reply from him again.

I feel ripped off. This is the problem with doing work overseas... people like this have no international liability. They take the money and disappear imediately when they feel like it... if they just don't want to finish the job, they will keep the money and send you off.

What can you do? You can't sue them... You can't show up to their door and request your money back. You can't call the police on them. There is nothing you can do if someone overseas takes your money.

People like Raman are the ones that will ruin overseas reputations and international globalization will continue to disappoint consumers.
