Difference between EDGE and GPRS

Regarding the internet problem...

I bought my Airtel Data card a few days before... When i connected it shows in the Signal bar whether it was GPRS or EDGE connection... when i worked it in my office it show as EDGE CONNECTION... but in my home it shows as GPRS CONNECTION... also the speed of the internet is also slow when campared with the EDGE connection... so i need the details about it... also how to get EDGE connection in my home... please give me a perfect solution as soon as possible...
