Noise pollution from Temple

Sir

we are a group of people submitting this complaint with utmost fear, grief and frustration from harassments from a priest and a few guys in our area.

We are some of the residents of Post office Road, Muppathadam, in the proximity of Sri Hariharapuram Chittukunnu Temple, Muppathadam (PO), Alwaye, Ernakulam, Kerala. In fear of the lives of me as well as my family. We are not able to mention our names and identifications here because a person who once complained against the noise pollution and other harassments from the above mentioned Temple was threatened by some guys who came from outside.

Speaking about the problem, the above mentioned Temple is owned by the priest himself who is illiterate and not properly aware of poojas and other Temple formalities. All the near by plots were once owned by his family, which were sold off to us. Now that he came to know that they should not have sold off the properties, he has decided to do all that is possible to take back the plots. For this, all that he does is to play devotional songs without any discretion for hours together during early morning and evening, through the horn-type banned loud-speakers which is really a matter of depression to the neighbours. During Sabarimala Season and other festival seasons, the loudspeaker will close only by noon. A person who lives immediately near the temple had once complained about his harrassments to the then Sub Inspector of Police in Binanipuram Police Station, Mr. Babykuttan. The dispute was amicably settled by the Sub-Inspector, but we could hear that a group of guys came over night to threaten the complainant. He is now completely silent and fearful now and the loudespeaker is again in its full swing now.

While performing pooja during the day, the priest is font of listening to music from CD player, even after switching off the loudspeakers.

To take revenge on the person who complained, the priest along with the Sweeper of the Temple, a nasty woman staying in our locality itself, are now engaged in throwing the pooja remains and other waiste materials to nearby houses and public road, there by blocking the trespassers.

Apart from this, the priest has become a threat to our women passing by because it is his habit and fun to pass urine with out shame, in public on the Temple wall, standing in clear vicinity from road, least concerned about who is passing by. Almost all the women in the area had fallen prey to this fun of priest, but no body shows courage to complain because the priest along with his relatives (cousin brothers) are agents of several illegal activities in the area.

As the Temple is situated in a thickly populated area with people residing within a distance of even less than 50 meters from the Temple, his habits and music-love has become a main source of mysery to local residents and they are not able to take rest/sleep at their home for whole day, especially early in the morning when we reach home after a tiresome day of work for a little rest and relaxation.

Its hence our humble request to help us out with a suitable solution..
