Sir/Madam

With utter despair, I inform you that I, Haridas Mondas, am a resident of Bansberia (Dist.-Hooghly). There had been a large field, earlier occupied by Ganges Jute Mill, behind my house. Some years ago, those plots had been sold and gradually houses were being built there and a narrow lane passing down my house was squeezed out.

Few days ago, the officials of Bansberia Electricity Board surveyed the area in order to give connection to these houses. But when they arrived to set up poles on 11.07. there was a problem regarding the location where pole could be set up. The residents, in whose houses the connection to be given, suggested the place, a part of which falls in my area, and the officials agreed. Though, the pole could well be set up to the other side of the lane. I objected then and there but the officials of the Electricity Board refused to pay heed to my word. They went on digging that place and set up the pole and connected the cables. Immediately, I informed the matter to the Electricity Board and they instructed me to lodge a complaint in black and white. The very next day, I lodged complaints to the Bansberia Electricity Board and the councilor of our ward But they kept the things delayed and did not do anything to remove the pole. Now, I have learnt from a reliable source that they are going to give the connections to these houses within one or two days.

From the very beginning, I have been at the receiving end of these callous people. Firstly, the place where the pole was set up falls partly within my area. Secondly, the health-hazard the cables of the electricity and the pole pose to life and property whenever there are north-wester and the rainy season. My house is a one-storied building and I am in the process to make it to two-storey. Imagine what will happen then. I could not even be able to construct windows in that portion. No one of my family would be able to go to the rooftop, let alone the children. Who will take the risk of the unfortunate incident waiting to happen whenever there is north-wester or break of the monsoon. Under the circumstances, I feel very dejected and threatened. So, I request you to take immediate steps to solve my woes and to save my family.

Hopefully, your concerned authority will take appropriate measures and my concerns will be properly addressed.
