DND not getting activated

I have been receiving a lot of unwanted sms from the service provider prompting me to download ringtones or go online to view entertainment material. I tried calling the customer care people who were not sure of the procedure to activate the "DND" (do not disturb) mode.

I have been asked by the customer care personnel to call on two different numbers i.e. 1255530 and 56700 to enquire more. Both the numbers are not toll-free and calling on them would cost me Rs. 2 per minute.

I wish some miracle could deactivate these annoying smses for me.
