Monopoly in geographies

We have a cable TV operator with exclusive coverage for our area with the result he dictates his own terms. Like mobile operators, I think there should be multiple cable TV operators so that consumers get competitive terms and are not at the mercy of a single operator. Please advise how this can be corrected.
