Horrible service

We had been using the Cab services from different service providers for the last 2 years. As i was not satisfied with the service quality of some of the service providers i had been using, I approached Cell Cabs last week for bookings. When i called their call center, i was surprised to know that they had almost all information about my travel requirements - like the pick up point, drop point, my cell no, address etc., although this is the first time i am approaching them for service. (This also caused some concerns whether the information like the above is being sold by some of the agencies/ service providers or there is data theft, putting many of the consumers like me in vulnerable position).
I had booked the cab for one week for both pickup and drop. Within few minutes, i got a confirmation by SMS confirming my booking and that i would be picked up on Monday morning at the pick up time.
Today when the cab was to arrive at 9 am, it did not arrive. I waited for 10 minutes and as the cab did not come, i called there call center. The number was not reachable for quite some time. When i reached them finally, i spoke to a lady and i have to give the complete information - not only about my booking, but also all info like address, mobile no etc all again. She said that the cab is on the way. As the cab did not come for quite sometime, i called them again and enquired. She gave a mobile no. of the driver. When i reached the driver, he said that he is yet to start and will do so in 30 minutes.
I have had many bad experiences with many of the service providers like easy cabs, meru cabs etc. But this experience from Cell Cabs is quite horrible where :
- they acquire the personal information of prospective clients without the consent of the prospects (buy or steal)
- confirm the bookings and not turn up at the right time that too on those days we have important work and need to be in office in time without fail
- have a call centre with numbers difficult to reach
- absolutely no co-ordination/ control within their system where the driver had not even started and they keep telling that the driver is on his way. In the era of radio cabs where the technology allows every service provider to identify where the cab is and know where the driver is, this is quite callous. Either they have not invested in & using the technology properly or their control and and monitoring systems are too shabby or they are covering up although they know that there were goof-ups in their system.
Overall an extremely horrible experience where we feel quite cheated and ended up wasting our precious and important time and with the quilty feeling that we could not reach office in time where we have quite important tasks to be completed.
Incidentally, are their any mechanisms to protect the consumers from getting cheated like this and ending up at the receiving end for no fault of theirs. I approached a traffic police, but his reaction was why are you wasting my time!!!
