The RCF factory in Chembur is a disaster waiting to happen.
MPCB (Maha Pollution Control Board) is sleeping over this issue and
the dilly-dallying of getting it recorded on test equipment proves they
are aware of the issue. Even their website is non-useful in registering emails.
There has been ammonia leakage in Chembur all through out the day from April however the quantity was bearable. Now since last one week, the irritating gas is being released more and it is
becoming quite a health hazard as it is breathed in and out by all people over here for 24x7 hours all week. Is the industry responsible for this leakage going to compensate for the health concerns of the affected people?
The Ammonia/Urea smog now is entire day over chembur and unbearable after evening. Small children attending schools in the morning complain or eye irritation and breathing trouble. Even youngsters find
the smell congesting their lungs, better not to say about the trouble older persons go through.
Is the RCF going to shut this itself, or people should go there and do it themselves??
Or do we need to go & shut them?
