Non delivery of goods

I had booked through Chennai packers & movers for mobilizing my household items from Tuticorin to Chennai. The items were loaded on 10-04. and it was promised that it will be delivered on monday morning (12-10). But it did not reach here. I have been calling the local office daily and they promise that it will be delivered today.but they have not delivered so far. Daily I am talking to them and they are saying that the parcel is being loaded. but in the evening they are saying that they will send tomorrow morning sharply. same story continues daily. I have told them that if they are not delivering by today night (15-10) i will submit the bill in police station stating that my house hold items are missing.

what steps should I take to get proper compensation from the company? as I have almost spent Rs. 150/- through my mobile apart from the mental torture i am going through as I am not able to move anywhere as i dont have my things with me and during unloading I have to be present there as I dont have anybody else to look after this. I have cancelled all my official and personal obligations owing to this.
