Late payment penalty

Dear sir,

I just closed a car loan which started in the year 2004.ICICI bank has charged me 800 Rs as penalty for late payment towards monthly instalment. This was a surprise to me as i came to know during the end of tenure. When i checked with both Banks (ICICI and City bank) both claim all is right on their part. I am paying through Citi bank towards monthly instalment.

Citi bank claims the cheque was presented on 17th Jan and the same was cleared with in 24 hours. ICICI bank claims the cheque were presented on 1st of the month and clearance happend on 17th Jan. Late payment charges amounts to 800 Rs for three months (jan, feb, and Mar).

I need your intervention in this matter, pl help.
