Problems with credit card settlement

I was holding a credit card with citi bank in 2007.However i couldn't pay the bills on time. I settled the card for a hefty amount and asked them to write-off the card. I also requested them to remove it from CIBIL.But inspite of my requests they didn't clear it from CIBIL.Because of this, I am not able to get any loan from any bank. Please take a necessary action against them.
