Citi Credit Card
Amount charged on the expired card

Miscellaneous

Hi,

I was Citi Credit card holder. I used the credit card approximately two years. Then my company sent me to USA to work at client’s place and after few months, my Citi Credit Card expired. When I was in USA, suddenly I started seeing some purchaces, which are purchased in Hyderabad on the expired credit card. As soon as I saw the charges, I called up Citibank Customer support in India and disputed the purchases. They asked me to fix some form and fax it to the Citi Bank India. I sent the filled in Dispute Form and faxed it.

Even after this happened, I started seeing new purchases everyday. I had no clue how it is happening. Then I started receiving mails from Citi officials saying that I have to pay Rs.20, 000 . I responded to them clearly that when I am in USA and my Citi Card is expired, how I could make purchase in Hyderabad. I mentioned that I did not want to pay the amount, which I did not even spend. Now I have been getting mails requesting me to pay Rs.40, 000 .

One day, they deducted Rs20000 directly from my savings account without my knowledge and consent. I have no idea what moral these Citi officials have.

How would a person want to pay the amount that he did not spend? I am planning to go to Consumer Court. If anybody, who has any such experience, could you please help me?

Thanks,

Jerome
