Non Replacement of the Classic 702 handset which is under warrenty

Dear Sir/ Madam,
I have bought a Classic 702 model handset from Reliance Communications with a RIM sim in June. Last month I found that neither the changer nor the charging point of the mobile is working properly and so I was unable to charge the mobile any further.
I registered the complain with an authorized service center of Classic handsets at " Galaxy Services", Shagun Chauk, Pimpri, Pune for the problem on 10 September. After examining the handset and the charger the agreed for the problem in the handset and said that it will be replaced.
herein I was issued a letter by the service station that the handset is found faulty and should be replaced. They asked me to take the handset to any of the reliance Communications shop, produce the handset & charger along with the letter issued by the service center and get the replacement of the handset.
when I approached the reliance Communication outlets with the above said things, they said that I have to give the Handset 7 Charger along with the BOX of PACKING in which the handset was given to me on purchase, without which they WILL NOT proceed my request. I explained them that I am not having the BOX of packing as its been thrown away 4 months back and it was no where mentioned that I have to preserve the BOX to availed the warranty complains.
I did the follow-up with 4-5 Reliance shops for the same and all of them gave me the same answer that without the box, the handset will not be replaced.
Kindly help me as what I should do to get the replacement of the handset. its already caused so much of inconvenience to me over last 1 month and i am highly disappointed with the service & response of Classic service centers & Reliance communications. Kindly tell me if I can take any legal action against them.
